The National Housing Data Agreement (NHDA)
Community housing workshop was held on the 12 May 2004.
Participants at the workshop included representatives from the
community and Indigenous housing areas of state and territory
housing authorities and community
housing peak bodies, including the Community Housing Federation of
Australia and the National Community Housing Forum. A report on
the workshop is available (insert link). The report provides a
basis for data development work to be undertaken for the 2004-05
and future data collections.
One of the recommendations of the
workshop was to develop a communication strategy to outlines ways
of supporting data providers, identify appropriate feedback
mechanisms and engage the sector. A draft communication strategy
has been developed by a working group and outlines the purpose,
objectives, principles, processes and evaluation/feedback. The
objectives of the strategy are to:
- promote the uses of community
housing information, e.g. bulletin answering key questions,
summary flyers
- increase awareness of the
importance of information standards
- identify ways to reduce the
response burden, e.g. training, technology
- determine sector needs to
improve information, e.g. skills, resourcing issues, building
capacity
- encourage sector participation
and commitment to improving the quality of information
- identify appropriate feedback
mechanisms to the sector
In addition, a workplan has been
developed for the implementation of the strategy and and details
of these activities under the NHDA are outlined below.
Current Activities
- Development of training options
for the community housing sector to assist with reporting
information.
- Development of a range of
options to collect information (e.g. paper-based, electronic).
- Improving the relevance of
information reported.
