AHURI final report - Pathways into and within social housing
Date:14/05/2012Source:Australian Housing and Urban Research Institute (AHURI)This is a final report from a study with the principle aim of charting a range of pathways into and within the current Australian social housing system at a time of significant changes to the sector, including the expansion of community housing, the introduction of common access systems in a number of states, and increased targeting of social housing towards those in greatest need. It developed a better understanding of the various ways by which people in different places and with different abilities, desires and needs, access social and affordable housing.

Coverage of hybridity includes both established housing providers and emergent third sector organisations including finance consolidators, development consortia and cross-subsidisation vehicles.
National Affordable Housing Exchange Announcements

We are pleased to announce that Rod Fehring from Australand will be presenting the Keynote Address on Thursday 26 July. After being unable to speak as planned at last year’s Exchange due to a bike accident, we’re pleased that Rod is able to attend this year.
Also speaking on the first day of the Exchange is the Hon Pru Goward, NSW Minister for Housing who will be addressing the Exchange during the afternoon.
2012 Homelessness Research Conference Report Available

The conference also heard keynote presentations from international experts Professor Dennis Culhane, School of Social Policy and Practice, University of Pennsylvania (USA) and Dr Volker Busch-Geertsema, Chair, European Observatory on Homelessness (Germany).

CHL initiate homelessness support program
Date:04/05/2012Source:Community Housing Ltd (CHL)National community housing provider Community Housing Ltd (CHL) have recently launched a new pilot program which identifies vulnerable households exiting the homelessness service system and places them into long term housing. According to CHL the program aims to help people who have escaped homelessness to avoid being stuck in a cycle of temporary, transitional or inappropriate housing.
