CHFA Core Roles
As the national industry body representing community housing providers, CHFA engages in a number of key roles that ensure that community housing is represented at a national level, and has the resources and support to grow and develop as a viable sector in Australia.
Representation
One of the most important roles CHFA engages in is the representation of community housing and community housing providers at a national level. CHFA represents the views of our members, and community housing providers across Australia in a number of ways. CHFA engages with state and federal governments and ministers through discussions and briefings, and provides representation for the sector on a number of panels, working groups and involvement with other key national bodies.
Provision of Information
Another of CHFA’s key roles is the provision of information. CHFA collect, analyse and disseminate a range of information related to community housing and issues that are of value to community housing providers. This includes news, events, data, research, guides and factsheets on a number of different topics, as well as general information on community housing topics as requested from time to time.
Policy
CHFA plays a strong role in both the development of policy related to community housing and community housing providers, and in the dissemination and promotion of their policy position to a broad range of stakeholders in the sector. CHFA’s policy work involves policy research and analysis, the development of specific policy positions, the publication and submission of CHFA policy on particular topics, and the communication and promotion of CHFA policy at events and meetings.
National Meetings and Events
CHFA also has an important role in coordinating national events to bring together key stakeholders from across the country. This includes one off meetings to provide forums on particular topics, as well as conferences and seminars.
