CHFA MEMBERSHIP

CHFA is made up of the state and territory peak organisations of community housing providers and their members as well as nationally based community housing organisations who support CHFA's purpose and objectives.

MEMBERSHIP

Eligibility for Membership of the Community Housing Federation of Australia includes any organisation that is:

  • a recognised State or Territory peak organisation of community housing providers
  • a nationally based community housing provider

ASSOCIATESHIP

Eligibility for Associateship of the Community Housing Federation of Australia includes:

  • a State or Territory based Community Housing provider individuals and organisations that support the purpose and objects of the Association

MEMBERS - NSW

NSW Federation of Housing Associations (NSWFHA)

The Federation was established by housing associations in NSW to support the growth of community housing sector. The Federation provides a forum for discussion and a voice for the community housing sector in NSW, acts as an advocate and mediator for member organisations, resources the sector, and co-ordinates and facilitates the activities of housing associations

Churches Community Housing (CCH)

Churches Community Housing aims to alleviate poverty and homelessness by promoting the participation of churches in increasing access to secure, affordable and appropriate housing for people on a low income or requiring support services.

NT Shelter

NT Shelter is the peak non-government housing advocacy body in the Northern Territory. NT Shelter advocates for appropriate and affordable housing for ALL Territorians particularly disadvantaged groups and those on low incomes.

Queensland Community Housing Coalition (QCHC)

The Coalition was formed in 1989 and is the peak body for community housing in Queensland. Coalition members are drawn from community housing groups including housing co-operatives.

Community Rent Schemes Association of QLD (CRSAQ)

The Rent Schemes help low income earners to get into and maintain private rental and other types of accommodation. The CRSAQ helps through income based rent subsidies. The Schemes also provide short to medium term accommodation to public housing applicants in severe and immediate housing need.

MEMBERS - SA

Community Housing Council of South Australia (CHCSA)

The Council is the peak body for community housing groups (both housing co-operatives and housing associations) in South Australia. The Council was formed through the amalgamation of the Community Housing Associations Forum (CHAF) and the Community Housing Assistance Service of SA (CHASSA) in 1997. The Council helps new and established community housing groups through education and representation, and promotes the benefits of community housing.

Shelter Tasmania

Shelter Tasmania has existed as a peak body for housing and housing related issues in Tasmania since 1975. Shelter Tasmania has played a leading role in the development of the social housing sector, ensuring that both government and community hear and respond to the housing needs and experiences of low income and disadvantaged Tasmanians. Shelter works to create opportunities to support, establish, resource and co-ordinate non-government organisations and agencies with similar interests and objectives to the association.

Community Housing Limited is the first Australian community housing organisation to operate nationally and internationally. A not-for-profit organisation, Community Housing Ltd (CHL) works with local communities to deliver and manager affordable rental housing.

Community Housing Coalition of Western Australia (CHCWA)

The Coalition was established in February 1996 as the peak body for community housing providers in Western Australia. CHCWA promotes strategies and policies to advance the community housing sector, provides information, education, and training to members, and promotes community housing as a viable housing option throughout Western Australia.

Federation of Housing Collectives (FOHCOL)

The Federation provides support, assistance and advice to member housing co-operatives in Western Australia. It promotes the concept of co-operative housing and tenant participation in housing management and facilitates co-operation and consensus between member housing co-operatives, relevant organisations and institutions.
